Work, work, work

Boy, oh boy, have I been busy!  At work and at home.  Finally a moment to post an update though.

We are currently working on our nursery for “Baby Raymond.”  The floor is almost all finished, I just need to place a support beam underneath that will be braced on the stairs below.  I am hoping to do the framing for the 2 new walls this weekend and might even get to hang the door and do the drywalling depending on time.

My brother told me about the new Meyer Home Plow.  Apparently Sears is going to be selling it.  What’s neat is that it is 2/3 the price of a “regular” plow but still is a “real” plow.  To save on cost it uses a Class III front mount receiver for mounting and it doesn’t have conventional left/right hydraulics.  Due to that and the fact it is light weight, it can be put on everything from a 1/2 ton truck down to a Ford Escape!  I think it’s a real bargain and if I were to ever put a plow on the front of the Ranger I would go this route.  I’ve always kinda wanted a front hitch anyway!

I had a dream

I had a dream that I was one of Mark Knopfler’s roadies.  Does that make me weird?  I think so.

Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

So excited for the weekend, it’s been a long week and an even longer month or so.  VERY busy!  Now I need time at home to do things around the house.  This weekend we’re planning on:

  • Doing laundy
  • Doing dishes
  • Vacuum the house
  • Treat cat and dog with Frontline
  • Mowing the lawn and weedwacking
  • Working on the Nursery
  • Weeding the gardens
  • Harvesting beans, cucumbers, dill and remaining peas
  • Other (I’m sure I’m forgetting something)

It’s good though, we’ve been wanting to catch up on this stuff for a while.  It’ll feel good.

Speaking of feeling good, Lit is back on the scene!

Repair instead of replace

I’ve always been fond of repairing things instead of throwing them out and replacing them.  Turns out wheels are no different.  We had a bent alloy wheel on our 2002 Ford Focus and needed to replace it (or so we thought).  It would have been $130 from a junkyard for a matching wheel.  For half that cost we were able to get the old wheel repaired as well as re-balanced!  Thanks go to Robert at New England Wheels of Maine located in Madison for the excellent service.

Who’d of thought I would love a leech?

As many people with an office job, I’ve been known to get side tracked with non work related items on my computer.  Whether it is facebook, youtube or cnn that is causing you not to get your work done – LeechBlock works.  LeechBlock is a FireFox addon that is free and does a great job of blocking out time consuming sites during your work period.

You set it up so that it blocks certain sites during a certain time of day and for any day of the week.  You can also have it so that for every certain length of time during that blocked period you are allowed a certain amount of web usage to the blocked sites.  IE- If it is set to block youtube.com from 9am to 5pm you could set it up that for every hour you are allow 2 minutes of use.  After those 2 minutes it will push you to your homepage (or wherever you program it to).

I love it and have already found it very helpful in keeping me on task.
