I needed to install a sump pump in our basement. So, like I always do, I went about researching all the viable options. I ended up going with a pedestal style sump pump, aka “pump on a stick”. This just makes the most sense to me. Keep the pump under water, keep the electric motor above the water. Why would anyone want a submersible sump pump as a permanent install? Yes, it was engineered to keep water out of the electric motor, but you are just asking for seals to fail. In time it will happen.
I think sometimes engineers design something just because they can, and a permanent mounted submersible sump pump is one of those items.
